I don't much care for the Liberal Party, one reason is because I am a Conservative. Also the Liberals now have a more Center position in the political spectrum anyway so they are not much different than Conservatives. Currently they are trying to force an unnecessary federal election and wasting 300 million in taxpayers money. I don't like Michael Ignatieff. Also the when the Liberals were in power from 1993 to 2006 they made huge cuts to federal programs and provincial transfers, they lied, they did not keep many promises from their platforms, they reduced the military to almost nothing, and the list just goes on.
I cant possibly support the Liberals.

Because the two really don;t work together.

As most people grow up and out of their liberal world view around the same time that they realize the need to be fiscally responsible.
On a government level it's not possible to fiscally conservative with other people's money, they can't control themselves.
Being socially liberal drives you to make poor choices out of misguided compassion.
Real compassion leads to people being better off, not just feeling better.

Liberal parties in Australia, Japan, and much of the world are based from classical liberalism. The parties include liberal-conservatism or just conservatism, libertarianism, and (classical) liberalism.

Liberal parties in the US are based from social/modern liberalism and not from classical liberalism.

No. Great question by the way.

I think people pigeonhole themselves and when they find out they are not who they think they are they go into denial and that is not the river.

Right now, the democrat party is splintered and in disarray. They found out who they are and they don't like it, so they are in denial. One group keeps yelling about the base (socialists) and others, the ones who really want to win elections not just push an agenda keep talking about being centrist.

What if you found out that you are not who you think you are? How would you react? Considering that self-awareness is one of the main keys in a successful life, finding yourself to be something you had always disliked, well you can see how that might create some internal discord.

Just for grins, take this test, try to be honest, don't skew it to fit your world view, just take it quickly and honestly. Then sit down and think about how that really fits with what you thought.
