You are confusing being a liberal with being a feminist.

I happen to be both.

As a feminist, I am pro-woman. That does not mean I agree with being mean or hating men. I just try to promote those women in the world that are oppressed and want a change. Like, I purposely found a female dentist after moving to a new area.

Being a liberal simply means I try to stay open-minded and hold true to not forcing my opinions on others... live and let live. Believe it or not, it is that simple.

Liberals tend to believe that abortions should be legal but the death penalty for violent criminals should be illegal. They believe that individual rights and freedoms should be sacrificed for the good of the whole (free speech, right to bear arms, etc.). They believe in government solutions to all problems, that the government can run our lives much better than we can.

Conservatives believe in protecting the constitutional rights of the individual above all else. They believe that an unborn fetus has the right to live more so than convicted murderers. They believe in minimal government and that individuals are the best ones to run their own lives.

Unlike conservatives, Liberals are not required to have the same opinion on every issue. We actually think for ourselves. This often confuses cons who primarily value sameness above all else.

So many Liberals may have several different views on a single subject.

I highly recommend the Unitarian Universalist society. They have perhaps the most liberal views of any religion in America. Even some atheists attend (now that's pretty liberal), and they are accepting of homosexuality and other controversial lifestyles.
