Sponsorship hinges on listenership. If they can't get anyone to listen to them, their sponsors pull their $$$ and they go off the air.

Just because you have freedom of speech, doesn't mean that you can force someone else to pay for you to broadcast it.

I wouldn't say its pointless
When you put a limit on your information, you limit your knowledge.
If you observe both sides with an open mind. You are able to notice the slant and notice the BS.
Then you form your own individual stance based on what you have learned.
I encourage both sides to do this regardless if they agree or disagree.
