I think BOTH Liberals and Conservatives can agree that domestic violence is against the law and those who break the law must be punished. To end domestic violence, we must explore the CAUSES of domestic violence. (This same principle applies to terrorism. To end it, we must explore the causes.) What causes a man or woman to verbally or physically abuse their spouse?Is it a psychological grasp at power? Is it an issue of anger control? Perhaps it was how they were raised? Maybe they themselves were abused as children? Could the abuse be induced by consumption of alcohol or other substances? Do economics play a role in the abuse? That is to say are the frustrations of being poor taken out on one's spouse as a means to vent one's anger. Make no mistake, I do not condone domestic violence, as I'm sure no one in their right mind would. However, I only seek to explore the root causes of domestic violence as means to an end. If none of the conditions I've stated were in existence would there be an end to domestic violence? There is no way to tell conclusively one way or the or the other until those conditions cease to exist. In the meantime, men and women can educate themselves in regards to spotting a potentially abusive boyfriend/girlfriend or spouse and take the necessary steps to avoid those relationships that may be harmful to them physically or psychologically. And law enforcement agencies should (as I'm sure they do_ take seriously all claims of spousal abuse. Family members and friends should be on the lookout for tell tale signs of abuse and lend support and offer assistance to those who need it. Anyone who commits an act of domestic violence should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

I'd say I'm more left of the spectrum... what's funny about that is I actually do like lime in my beer.... my God maybe this story is true!!

You're right, I mean correct...we are all in the same country but you'd never know it, would you? Very scary. We need to tone down the negative and hurtful sniping and work together to tell the government that none of us is happy and we're going to vote out all incumbents, no more good ol' boys club, no more corruption, no more late night deals, no more lobbyists! If the politicians can't keep their promises to the people, we'll show them who's boss because they have obviously forgotten.

People need somebody to blame, it helps when there is a clear reason for a situation. We need to be looking at corporate greed and the power of special interest instead.

Corporate greed is driving this market for several reasons besides cheap labor and saving on employment taxes (in some cases), Illegal immigrants are actually lowering wages for citizens which is, in my opinion what corporate America had planned all along, its a little darker than just cheap labor and savings on employment taxes, fees and insurances such as workers compensation.

Special interest is in there lobbying legislators and demanding we give rights to people who by virtue of the fact that they are not citizens, have no rights but basic human rights in this country, this also keeps us divided.

My opinion is that keeping us divided is the plan, if we are divided NOTHING happens, things are business as usual meanwhile American wages continue to drop and illegal immigrants are no closer to legalization.....

OK....... that was my 2 cents for the day....
