What are the main principles of liberalism in America? We Answered:
Its a difficult topic to tackle, because I think in many respects that liberals and conservatives want similar things, they just have completely different views on how to get there.I know personally, as a liberal, the things that are near and dear to me are 1) social freedoms and equality 2) economic stability, ENSURING that people have an opportunity and are not swallowed by the greed that thrives in our economy 3) looking out for those who have fallen on hard times due to factors out of their own control 4) Ensuring that people's natural and civil rights are upheld.
Its a pretty breif list, theres alot of other things, a good place to look for a list of things that the Democratic party believes in (which is home to the majority of liberals) would be to look up the most recent version of the Official Democratic Party platform.

How would you rate Obama's performance from the angle of destruction of liberalism in America? We Answered:
I applaud him for waking a sleeping giant. Let's face it, he didn't win by the liberal vote alone, he won because people wanted "better" change and now they're finding out just exactly what that "change" is. A government takeover of everything, including our private lives. How many senior citizens, moderates, and independents are now realizing just how dangerous the change rhetoric truly is? MANY....
Thanks Obama.. Maybe after you finally leave, we can straighten this country out. And perhaps the "conservatives" have learned a lesson. I certainly hope so.

Can someone please explain what sharia law has to do with liberalism in America? We Answered:
I don't believe it has anything to do with liberalism in America.I'm not really an expert on Sharia law, but my understanding is that has extremely harsh penalties for theft, mandates the death penalty for adultery, gives men far more legal rights than women, and does not permit real freedom of religion for everyone.
At least among the liberals I know, the preference is for milder criminal sentences, not harsher ones, and there is no support for adultery being punished even by prison -- much less by death.
All the liberals that I've met have been in favor of women have equal rights with men, and all of them support religious liberty for everyone.
This suggests that liberalism is basically incompatible with Sharia law, just as it's incompatible with Christian theocracy and extreme rightwing Jewish Zionism.
However, all of the liberals that I know personally pride themselves on being tolerant and open-minded. Therefore I wouildn't expect them to discriminate against individual Muslims, Christians or Jews.
The most open-minded liberal I know, my girlfriend, actually is curious about the religious beliefs of people for all 3 Abrahamic religions.
As a sometime attender of Quaker meeting, she believes in seeking out "that of God in every one," and therefore believes that even very conservative Muslims, Jews and Christians probably have something valid to say.
