Nick Clegg Liberal Democrats
Andrea Said:
Is Nick Clegg and the Liberal Democrats holding the country to ransom? We Answered:
I think what Labour and specifically Tony Blair and Gordon Brown have done to this country is sick. And yes I do think Nick Clegg is holding the country to ransom and going back on his word about how the Conservatives having the most votes therefore they should be given the fist chance at building a new government would be incredibly damaging to his party. And holding the country to ransom over electoral reform when we are in a financial crisi is utterly disgraceful.I think the only party playing fair are the conservatives. They are right to offer a referendum on electoral reform it should be down to the voters.
Having Labour as Government again and this time again with an unelected leader and many other parties having to be involved would not be in the countries best interests.
Claudia Said:
UK: As Nick Clegg and the Liberal Democrats are so in favour of Proportional Representation why didn't they?We Answered:
The Lib Dems want PR because they love being able to hold the country to ransom over one of their pet issues. It's their idea of democracy...minor parties blackmailing the winners of the election into accepting their self serving policies. PR would make hung parliaments the norm and give the Lib Dems disproportionate power. My preference is the alternative vote system.

Edit:
MrHairyman, AV is not a form of PR. Check the link above and see where it says
"AV is thus not a proportional system, and can in fact be more disproportional than FPTP".
Luis Said:
In 10 years time do you think that they will remember Nick Clegg and the Liberal Democrats? We Answered:
It is not going to take even 10 years.Barry Said:
What would you Americans think if Liberal Democrat Nick Clegg were elected as UK Prime Minister? We Answered:
Not that he can be. Prime Ministers are appointed, not elected. A person becomes Prime Minister by appointment by the Queen, who would normally appoint the leader of the largest party in the House of Commons to be PM.Dana Said:
Has Nick Clegg killed off the Liberal Democrats? We Answered:
almost certainly. The Lib Dems might be able to hold on in a few Tory marginals in the south-west, but their base - among students and disgruntled Labour voters - has deserted them. Ironically, most of the Lib Dem members of cabinet hold seats in student cities, so they are likely to be the ones who are punished at the next election. Clegg will almost certainly lose his Sheffield seat.
