The PLO is an umbrella organization that includes most of the Palestinian resistance groups, including the PFLP. Fatah group is largest member of the PLO and alone is bigger than all the other members of the PLO combined. The PFLP is a remote second. The PFLP is a leftist organization, while Fatah is a centrist.

Hamas and Islamic Jihad resistance groups are not members of the PLO. Hamas came out first in the last Palestinian legislative elections in 2006, and Fatah came second.
