Viola Said:

Can someone help me understand the Dafur Genocide?

We Answered:

According to BBC, the SLA and Jem are based in Darfur. The Janjaweed are regarded as a paid militia for the Arab-dominated Sudanese government.
"The conflict began in the arid and impoverished region early in 2003 after a rebel group began attacking government targets, saying the region was being neglected by Khartoum.

The rebels say the government is oppressing black Africans in favor of Arabs."

Johnny Said:

Fighting in Abyei?????

We Answered:

so am I

Julio Said:

Southern Sudan, what are your thoughts?

We Answered:

If it ends the bloodshed that is a good thing. The first few years will be very telling.

Keith Said:

Would you support a boycott of the Olympics to be held in Beijing, China,....?

We Answered:

No, I would not, amateur athletics should not be used as a means of political protest, and the only ones who are hurt ultimately are the athletes, who may never again be able to compete at that level.

Dave Said:

Why aren’t the Anti-Islamic posters ranting about this?

We Answered:

I don't know about the anti-Islamic posters, but I think those of us who are informed eventually reach a sense of hopelessness. From Bosnia(where, yes, Ruth, there were many human rights atrocities committed) to Rwanda to Darfur to Cambodia to the Congo we despair of being able to ever keep up with all of them. The US can't do it alone. And it appears that humanity itself is not willing to get involved, no matter how much they may decry genocide. Any more than they did in WWII-Germany. Sometimes we get tired of being a voice crying in the wilderness.
