Is it good that I got Commended for the National Merit Scholarship? We Answered:
It certainly can't hurt!!! NOT being a finalist does not rule anything out, though, either. I was a finalist but was not in the top 10 in my graduating class - being a finalist helped boost me in my college apps since my gpa was not flawless. We had four valedictorians with 4.0 gpas (no weighted grades at my school) and none of them were even commended scholars. One went to Stanford and Yale law, one is now a PhD math prof, one went to Duke and Northwestern Bus. School, and the fourth went to Vanderbilt....so apparently they all turned out fine without being finalists. Colleges will like that you're a commended scholar, but will like you even more if you've got a solid gpa, good essays, activities, etc.Kathy Said:
Graduate SCHOOL questions?We Answered:
Your grades and your GRE are usually the only 2 things that they look at. It's not like getting into an undergrad where you can balance things off with extracurriculars (with few exceptions). Therefore, your grades will play a huge role in your acceptance to any grad school and to be honest, your GPA is quite low. I think the minimum for most programs in your field is like 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. All you can do now is score well on your GRE and hope for the best. Good luck.Jane Said:

If you like Chemistry, Holy Cross is one of the nation's top producers of chemistry graduates certified by the American Chemical Society. Holy Cross's academic rating is much higher than all three of those schools according to the Princeton Review.Dana Said:

God...Either you are stupid or you are just trying to show off your scores.
Of course you will get admitted - unless there is something very important you are leaving out...
