Victorians, a survey about the 2010 state election? We Answered:
At the moment .. the Greens are looking good ... both in the state election and the federal.I'm a swinging voter who leans more to the left but I have no hesitation in voting a Labor Government ( either state or federal) out if I am unhappy with how they have been running things...
I heard Ted Baillieu interviewed on the ABC a few weeks ago.. seems like a nice enough bloke .. but a comment was passed by the interviewer that he seemed TOO nice to be able to survive in the world of politics..

DOES THIS SOUND GOOD?We Answered:
The plot is good but you some stuff sounds unrealistic or just immature, like it was nighttime and storming..try to make it sound more mysterious or let the reader use more of their imagination like describing the night and rain instead of saying it was nighttime and raining. And would you keep a gun in your pocket? Since your a woman, maybe in your purse or glove compartment?Arnold Said:
Help for english correction?We Answered:
I do like Italians. I married one. Your English is pretty good, but there are a few things I do not understand. "...critacazed for artistic nudes" That does not make any sense to me. "handits" ?? "It was carefully preserved the chastity" I think you might want to say "It carefully preserved" "were the Britain lives" is not quite correct grammatically. Maybe "where the British live through a great period of progress, etc." "women alones" perhaps should be more specific as "unmarried women with children" During that era there were many women who lost husbands in the many foreign conflicts that England was involved in. They were alone and had children but were not looked down upon. "moralises". I think that should be "moralists"."alterned" I think that should be "alternated"
"North lived above enigrant to Europe and south live above black slavers". That does not make sense to me. I am not exactly sure what your are trying to say. The South's economy was based on slave labor. The North's economy was industrial and immigrants provided cheap labor actually very similar in many ways to the slave labor of the south.
Abraham Lincoln was not an abolitionist leader, but it is true that many of the followers of the new Republican party were abolitionists. Most of the abolitionists were from the New England states I believe although I forgot most of that history a long time ago.
"With the black codes tartured etc. " That sentence does not make any sense to me. Although slavery was abolished, the blacks were still discriminated against for another 100 years. Actually, in both the north and the south. More so in the south than in the north. They continued to be segregated in housing, schooling, and in all other forms of life in the south for 100 years after the 13th amendment.
Hope that helps some.

How exactly would one describe British government's attitude to Ireland from 1832-1886?We Answered:
the english attitude of the irish from anytime until most recent was "live or die, preferably die". i know this sounds rather harsh but the same english tune played in england was the same tune played here in the states regarding the native american or the black slaves-later freed men and women. to white america and england, the irish, like the natives and blacks, were considered the dark and undesirable element anywhere near british soil. point of interest: when the potato was first discovered, it was brought to ireland in hopes that it was true what people said of tube plants: they were deadly. it was an english experiment to really test it out on the irish. if the irish died eating potato, oh well, ok. if they lived, then the brits knew it was ok for the brits to eat it, too. this says a lot.Howard Said:
Printed below is a statement written by Neil Clark, of the National Union of Journalists in Britain? We Answered:
Hello, I'm not sure what your question is, but reading this it gives the impression that since the start, with the exception of only a handful of people in the government, the whole pension scheme seems only to have been entered into for the sake of saying we are doing something to look after the elderly, partly by being shamed into it by other countries doing something similar first, and that right from the start, the government has tried to get away with paying as little as possible towards it whilst still being able to keep face. This government that we have now, have tried to make an art out of appearing to be helpful and careing whilse really only pandering to their own image, but in reality doing as little as possible. There has always been the dual thinking of wanting to be able to say they are doing something positive for this group in society or that, but at the same time making it as difficult or humiliating as possible so that that group doesn't feel able to take that help.
The pension situation has always been the worst example of this type of double standard. If a government decides that certain people who fit certain criteria deserve x amount pension, then they should recieve that amount automatically, without having to jump through hoops or do anything that makes them feel uncomfortable. The reason is that the government has always relied on many pensioners and others, not to claim all that they are entitled to.
If a government says that a state pension is the fair and right way to look after our elderly, that they have earned the right to be comfortable, well and secure, then why not provide a good enough pension so that they are safe and secure?
If they cannot afford more direct money, then they should make deals with utility companies so that pensners do not have to pay such high rates to heat their homes. There should also be a great deal more done to help pensioners who are isolated in their homes to get out and about, and meet each other, have places to go and things to do. So many people seem to spend nearly all their time, day in, day out, alone, this is not exceptable.
As with anything else that people want to get done or improved, if only people from that group in this case pensioners, protest or say anything, nothing is done, any group wanting to make an impact, must get the support of others as well, there is no reason why, in a rich country like this, where everyone pays pretty high taxes on everything we buy as well as what we earn, that *anyone* specially pensioners who have worked all their lives, could be living in poverty.
