2008 Republican Platform

Charles Said:

What was the Republican Platform in 2000? How does it compare in 2008?

We Answered:

Let me guess, Ron Paul

Tom Said:

Why does the Republican 2008 platform say "We don't support government bailouts of private institutions"?

We Answered:

GREAT question!!
Why does it say that??? Perhaps because at the time it meant "We don't support any government program that will benefit those slimy poor people. We only support government subsidies for people rich enough to dump money back on us. We'll pay for your mistakes if you are a bank, a lobbyist, an oil company or Haliburton. Don't call us if you are a black guy trying to get a small house for your family."
YUCK.

Constance Said:

If you've been a Republican, are you STILL one after reading *this*? If so -- WHY?

We Answered:

I am a Democrat. I have been involved with Democratic politics for over 40 years.

This is not new information. this is just another blog.

Although it contains some of the material that I have used against Republicans myself, it comes off as an extreme left blog.

The extreme left causes a number of people who would have voted for Democrats to vote for Republicans instead.

In 2008 we will take the House, the Senate and the Presidency if we do not blow it. This is our election to lose.

Extreme blogs like this one will not get us any more votes than we would get anyway, but it could cost us votes,

We need to look as mainstream as possible if we want to win all 3 branches of government.

We have not had this kind of opportunity in years. We do not want ot blow it in an orgy of left wing politics.

(edit to asker) We agree that Hillary would be the best choice for President.

We can be factually correct and still not do as well at the ballot box as we should have.

Your blog appeals to the party faithful but it does not appeal to the center.

My point is that we need to appeal to the center politically if we want to be assured of taking all 3 branches of government in 2008.

Kathryn Said:

Does John McCain represent the Republican platform well and is he a true conservative and why?

We Answered:

His voting record shows he is almost a Democrat. Personally, he is too liberal.

Bobby Said:

Does the 2008 Republican Platform state that Republicans will work towards LESS Government intervention?

We Answered:

"Smaller government" is one of their sales pitches, just like "lower taxes". So they're surely saying it again, but the government is about 40% bigger now than when Bush took office and just look at the deficit spending. My taxes haven't been lower, but just about the same until they gave these rebates this year. The rebates were nice, but they continue to think money grows on trees.
To me the truth is they are fool of sheet.

Peggy Said:

The 2008 Republican Party Platform says that man is causing Global Warming, so who can skeptics vote for?

We Answered:

Why does it seem like democrats listen to Rush more than Reps?.....I couldnt even tell you what station he is on LOL

Timothy Said:

SInce the GOP 2008 Official Platform states NOT to bail out businesses, will the republicans impeach Bush?

We Answered:

Well if you watched the news over the last two days, you will see that citizens have voiced strong oppostion to the current bail out plan. Now congress is sitting on it, trying to figure out a way to make the bailout happen without pissing off the voters. We republicans are yelling from the roofs to let the market decide, the Bush Administration is outbound, but the McCain Administration is listening, Obama is voting Present.
