Am I Republican Or Democrat

Terry Said:

If I am pro choice does it mean I am a democrat or republican?

We Answered:

NO, it doesn't mean you're a democrat or a republican.

That is one of many issues that would help to define your views, though, and they say that most people who are pro-choice are considered either liberal, democrat, or both...but not all.

April Said:

How do I know if I am a Democrat or Republican?

We Answered:

We each have freedom to choose whatever party we like.

Personally, I decided to never join a political party in my entire life because at different times, I'd been disappointed and repulsed by all of them.

And, joining a political party tends to over-simplify things, leads to lazy democracy in which we remain ignorant of the issues and just vote for our "team."

That said, Republicans tend to advocate a reduction of government involvement in our everyday lives.
However, they have allied themselves with various religious groups who would like to see people's rights limited in a way that enforced proper "Christian" behavior.

If you look at their positions and platforms closely, they also tend to advocate big business. They set policies to benefit large corporations over the welfare of the general citizenry.

Democrats aren't much better. Outwardly, they advocate progressive programs that are meant to aid traditionally downtrodden and impoverished groups of people in gaining a better stance in life. While admirable, they have allied themselves with labor unions and set policies that benefit that group above the general citizenry.

All-in-all, in making a comparison of their ideals and also in comparing what I perceive as hypocrisy and outright deceit...

I have found that the Democratic Party tends to be the superior of the two. They tend to be sincerely progressive in matters of social improvement, education and science.

While the Republican Party tends to cover their lies with "patriotic" propaganda and continues to safeguard large corporations over the well-being of the general population. Plus, they maintain positions, that I consider detrimental to social progress, in order to placate their religious base.

Overall, you have to decide which party "feels" right to you. Because ultimately, they aren't that different from each other in practice.
