I am not Australian but I do know that if Australia no longer had Queen Elizabeth II as Head of State they could still be a member of the Commonwealth of Nations as a republic.

I believe he will seek someone with charisma. Someone who has the backing of the GOP leadership. Someone who will fight for the rights of the common billionaire man.

You know when you get right down to it we virutally are a republic in all but name. We have our own constituion, laws and currency. The Queen hasn't made any real decisions in our country and the last time the Governer General did anything slightly resembling a royal edict was when he booted Gough Whitlam. I think there is a rasonably strong republican movement in England, which will make the decision for us eventually. Also the referrendum doesn't really count as it was worded to fail regardless.

Now a lot of people say many Aussies have died under that flag, a flag which represents a Britain that has constantly screwed us in war. For example they landed us (and the New Zealanders) at the worst possible spot in Gallipoli while they safely sailed up the straits away from real danger. Also Churchill stated he was willing to give up Australia so we could send him more troops to save England, good thing that Deakin essentially said screw you to him.

Personally I'd like to see the Union Jack on our flag replaced with the Aboriginal flag.

I apologise on behalf of your spineless apology. By doing so you are attempting to deny the truth of the matter that, as one of the more intelligent and eloquent posters, above, has put it, Australia is a subsidiary company of Great Britain.
