Democracy is when the people tell the government what the government must do so the people can succeed an the government can survive

A Republic is where the government decides what the government must do so the people can succeed and the government can survive

Socialism is where the government decides what the government must do for the people to survive and the government to succeed.

We were designed to be a democracy "we the people", but, 200 + years ago, our ability to actually get to the government, to tell our government what it must do didn't exist... so we became a republic by default.

Today, if you study the "Democrats" beginning with Clinton, you'll find that they decide what they must do for the people to survive and them to succeed. Whereas some of the Republicans are asking us what they must do for us to succeed and them to survive.

Our 2 party system is no longer Democrat and Republican.

The Democrats have become Socialists and some of the Republicans are becoming Democrats.

Very little. The parties originally stood for being conservative and non-conservative(liberal here) but the party leaders have become so close to one another in a mutual attempt at attracting votes from the opposite side that those original values are not so black and white anymore. The media portrays them as opposites in so many things but in reality, neither party does much about much and blames their shortfalls on the other.

Republicans in theory support a smaller government with lower taxes that provides fewer services, they also run on a pro life platform and traditionally support the maintenance of a strong defense.

Democrats generally make the government bigger and make the government provide more services but they make you pay for it by raising taxes. Also they have generally been pro baby killing.

The unfortunate reality of the last 10 or so years has been that both parties are governing the exact same way and that way is not very good for the country. Mainly the Republicans got a bit drunk with power and acted more like Democrats. If they had been the conservatives they claimed to be when they took office we'd be in a lot better shape today.

"Liberal" and "conservative" are not parties, they are political descriptors. "Republican" and "Democrat" are the proper names for the two largest political parties in this country.

girl asked her dad if she was a dem or rep. He says ok well you work really hard in school and you get good grades right. Yes. Well You know how Stacy doesnt work very hard and sometimes she is real close to passing but fails by a little. Yes. Well since you have a 4.0 and she has a 1.9 why dont you give her a little of your gpa so she can have a 2.0 and you will have 3.9 you still pass and she passes too everyone is happy. She says thats not fair I worked for that grade. Then you are a Republican

well this is what it is supposed to be but today there is no real conservatives in govt the entire country fell left.
