Second, with regard to republicans and democrats, republicans are into things that promote the nuclear family (that is, a mom, a dad, and their kids), and are into promoting freedom when it comes to our money. Democrats are into things that promote equality for everyone (not necessarily freedom; they believe you shouldn't be free to say sexually suggestive things at work, for instance), and are into promoting freedom when it comes to lifestyle choices.

The part of the Republican party that promotes the Bible as a model for government is a small part called the religious right. Many Republicans disagree with their view, just as many Democrats disagree with radical feminists, eco-terrorists, etc.

Republicans - Don't get sick but if you do, die quickly.

Democrats - Affordable health care for over 95% of its citizens. Not perfect, but it's better than nothing. No more out-of-pocket expenses for basic screenings. No more denying children health care because of some pre-existing condition. No more dropping single, college children after they reach the age of 21.

It's not an exact descriptions, as some Republicans and Democrats disagree with some parts of their platforms, but it comes close enough to a general consensus. Also, since the platforms are written by the parties themselves, you don't have to worry about a negative bias affecting the description.
