Democrat Vs Republican Differences

Teresa Said:

Democrat vs Republican?

We Answered:

Truthfully when it comes to the politicians it comes down to if you want foreplay or not.

Both sides are out for what they can get (money and power) you don't get career politicians because they really care about us, look that what they were trying to do with the immigration bill.

Victor Said:

Can someone please explain what the differences are for....democrat liberals republican conservative etc...?

We Answered:

The two major political parties are the Democratic and the Republican Parties. Words like Liberal, Conservative, and Moderate refer to what a person wants his government to do, whether he wants a huge government or a smaller one.

Democrats can be Liberal, Moderate, or Conservative. So can Republicans. During the past 25 years or so, most Democrats have been Liberals, and most Republicans have been Conservatives.

Liberals generally want a government that does practically everything for the individual and the family. They are perfectly willing to enact higher taxes, and have an extremely large government, with lots of rules, lots of departments, and lots of employees, if that's what it takes.

Conservatives believe individuals and families are strong, independent, and can fend for themselves without a lot of help from the government. So they believe in a smaller government with limited powers and functions. They believe the government should do only those things that the individual and the family cannot do for itself. Examples are national defense and building roads.

You have asked a great question. I suggest you surf the internet to find more information.

Grace Said:

In detail, non-biased - Democrat Vs. Republican? Conservative Vs. Liberal?

We Answered:

The parties (Democrat and Republican) are simply the largest and most powerful of the political parties. Due to their large size and the barriers they have placed barring potential competition, they struggle to remain relevant and have to make many different concessions on their political platforms to maintain broad base appeal.

* Republicans appeal to economically "conservative" and socially "traditional" policies: pro-ownership/pro-business, national defense/security, extensive gun ownership rights, and pro-life rights. "Reagan Republicans" were also for small/limited government, reduced tax burden, and accountable balanced federal budgeting. Republicans tend to believe that the people and the market are the solutions to problems.

* Democrats appeal to economically "progressive" and socially liberal policies: lower labor, organized labor, extensive business regulation, minority rights, federal public programs, limiting gun ownership, gender equality, sexual orientation equality and abortion rights. Democrats tend to believe that the government and programs are the solutions to problems.

There are a lot of different variations on "conservatives" and "liberals". I will stick to the political "conservatives" and political "liberals".

* Political Conservatives believe in a strict or limited interpretation of the Constitution. They believe that if the framers of the Constitution meant it, they would have stated it in the Constitution. They believe that too loose an interpretation of the core document creates too much inconsistency and thus leads to widespread improper application of the law and weakens the Constitution.

* Political Liberals believe in varying degrees of "loose" interpretation of the Constitution. They believe that the framers of the Constitution either left the document very incomplete or were unclear in the scope of the Constitution. They believe that too rigid an interpretation of the Constitution makes it inapplicable to the present day or does not adequately apply justice in specific situations.

Take the First Amendment:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

The first clause, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof", is stated by liberals to be the basis of "seperation of church and state" policy, referred to as the "establishment clause". They interpret the term "establishment" to include giving federal money to religious groups or organizations (as it is for secular groups and organizations).

Conservatives interpret the clause as prohibiting the government from founding a state religion or state church, and therefor contains no clear prohibition against directing federal funds to religious groups or organizations (as it is for secular groups and organizations).

Peace and prosperity.

Republican Vs Democrat?

We Answered:

It's easy to find a Republican who enjoys killing animals for fun and it's virtually impossible to find a Democrat who does.

That pretty much says it all.

Jeffrey Said:

Help understanding Democrat vs. Republican?

We Answered:

A better question would be to define liberals and conservatives. The democratic and republican parties aren't nearly as different as they used to be. Here are the main differences though

Republicans are conservative MOST of the time.
Democrats are liberal MOST of the time.

Conservatives
-want little government intervention
-want people to be self-reliant, don't just let the government provide everything.
-not all reformations are necessary

Liberals
-more government intervention/management
-favorable to reform (you should be aware of what that reform might be)
-let the government provide
