Certainly not. Earlier elections in this nation's history were not between the Democrats and Republicans at all.

If an independent could win enough public support to be a viable candidate, that independent could very well win the election. In fact, Ralph Nader's name will be on the ballot in November which proves that it isn't really just between the two political parties.

But, because the Democrats and Republicans are the two political parties best established and with the largest public support, the next president will assuredly come from one of these parties.

Religion-republicans tend to believe in more traditional religious values than democrats.
Censorship-i'm sure both parties agree it is generally not a good thing
Loyalty- both loyal, they work for a nation's governement so they better be!
Change-republicans more into traditions whereas democrats tend to be more progressive
Dissent- both parties agree with free speech

Even though they may disagree democrats and republicans do still think the same on many core american beliefs. Libertarians, on the other hand, just dont get it.

i started out as a dem as well, I changed when I saw the multitude of ideas on the GOP side, and every dem spouting the same party line, just like it still is 7 years later

Economy: Is fixing itself and Obama is stunting it more than helping.
Homeland Security: Obama has made this the biggest joke in American History. Attempting to shut down Guetmo? Giving A TERRORIST A DAM PUBLIC TRIAL WITHA LAWYER? Why wasn't he given a military trial? Why are we treating him like a citizen and not an enemy to the State? We should be questioning this guy, but no, Obama wants everything to be perfect and wants to show the guys who want to kill compassion. As I said before, Homeland security used to be fine with Bush, but with Obama as President, its a joke.

To add to my Homeland Security Concern, a new threat has appeared.

Today at a public speech, I forgot for what, someone tossed a pie into the speakers face. Now, the person who flung the pie may be charged AS A TERRORIST. So, if I fling a pie, I am a dam terrorist, but if I try to bomb a plane, I am an American citizen. This a mockery to the American justice system and if this person is charged with terrorism, I swear I will protest.

There is Hannity and Colmes, on TV, Sean Hannity is Republican and Alan Colmes is the Demcrat and they have a talk show on Fox News,, its both sides represented.. and also on PBS there is The McGlaughlin Group. John McGlaughlin is the moderator and they have 2 right wing and 2 left wing people, so 4 all together talking about issues from both sides...
