Stanley's a little biased, anyway here's what a famous comic said about 80 years ago about it:

"The only difference between the Democrat and Republican parties is that when one party is in, the other party wants in."

So since we're all somewhat biased:

Republicans: Government, let us alone. Don't spend anything unless it's on national defense, and immigration reform (To make sure no illegal aliens are in the country to take the jobs that no one else wants anyway. Of course, rich republicans want to keep their illegal workers that they've hired since their being paid slave wages anyway. This group tries to empathize with minorities in a way that is so ham-handed that it makes great fodder for late night comedy shows. Then, they get offended that they should be mis-interpreted like that.)

Democrats: This group wants to increase taxes on those people in the country that it believes should help out the more disadvantaged. Such as the health reform effort that Pres. Obama worked on. This scares the hell out of the Republicans who scream that it will bankrupt the country. This feeling mainly comes from the fact we're in the worst recession in 40 years and many people are not in a position where they can help out others. So Pres. Obama picked a bad time to try to enact health care reform which tries to spread the responsibility for others in the country to pay for those that cannot afford it.

Democrats believe that the government's job is to take care of people who vote for them, and the way to pay for it is to tax working individuals and companies that provide jobs.

Republicans believe that the government should protect the country and provide basic infrastructure and should just collect enough taxes to do that so every can safely have the opportunity to become rich.
