Jimmy Said:
In your opinion what caused the fall of the Republican Party GOP?We Answered:
It was like bingo at the retirement home. They lost a lot of disillusioned young people who've watched their peers die in an unnecessary war. Pundits have warned about this for a while. Honestly, if I wasn't so staunchly against the war I would probably vote for McCain. He's a lot more moderate and progressive than other republicans.Eduardo Said:
what chance does the Gop Republican party has when they lack ideas ,and have become hate- mongers? We Answered:
Same chance they had in 2006 and 2008. None!Lauren Said:
Why would any American Citizen with less than $100 Million Dollars support the Republican Party & GOP Platform? We Answered:
Excellent point made! I wonder this myself...Republicans are blatantly in collusion with corporate greed and corrupt policies---indeed, many of our House and Senate Republicans have made PROFITS from the greed and corruption (i.e., Kenneth Lay/Enron; Abramhoff; Bernie Madoff; BP; etc.) when they were in totalitarian control of all three branches of government. Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has a personal net worth of $49 MILLION ("The Rachel Maddow Show") and comes from a POOR state where the unemployment rate EXCEEDS the national average, and yet...he cruelly BLOCKED the extension of unemployment benefits for millions of out-of-work Americans struggling to make ends meet, claiming he was now (after six long years of drunken-sailor spending that ran up TRILLIONS of dollars in deficits) "concerned about adding to the deficit"...say whut (?)! The dollars added would be roughly $30 billion---far LESS than the $189 BILLION the Democrats' and President Obama's PAYDOWN OF OUR DEFICIT by 8% (according to Reuters and Washington Post, April postings on Yahoo's Home Page news). Democrats are the ones who have put CONSUMER PROTECTIONS back into place; have passed FINANCIAL REFORMS; have passed INSURANCE REFORMS that prevent predatory or vicious practices by the 1300 for-profit insurers; have passed laws to make HEALTH CARE both AFFORDABLE and ACCESSIBLE to ALL Americans! Lobbyist-controlled Republicans, on the other hand, did everything they could to keep any consumer protections from being enacted, resorting to the creation of a fake-"grassroots" (astroturf really) tea potty "movement" (pun intended) to deliberately disrupt Democrats' town hall meetings over the summer with SCRIPTED shouts or vitriol, just to kiss up to their fatcat GOP-DEREGULATED buddies, big oil, pharmaceuticals, Wall Street, credit markets, for-profit insurance companies...
Republicans keep on pushing the same HORRIBLE POLICIES that caused ruination every single time Republicans try to foist their failed policies off on us: tax cuts for the wealthiest few that eat up our revenues and produce huge deficits, deregulation that lets corporate America set its own rules as though they would actually be FAIR to their workers or to their consumers if no one is looking and there are no consequences for behaving badly, a.k.a., "less government" (a Trojan horse that caused our depression-level RECESSION, to include the FINANCIAL SYSTEM MELTDOWN), and "privatize Social Security" (so they can get their greedy little mitts on all that Trust Fund money and get control put into the hands of their lobbyist partners in crime, leaving the Seniors and the disabled without a safety net. We can SAVE Social Security by expanding our jobs (and thereby our revenues) base---which is what DEMOCRATS DO! Republicans OUTSOURCE EVERYTHING, remember? VOTE DEMOCRATS THIS NOVEMBER AND SAVE THIS NATION FROM RUIN!

So is the GOP / Republican Party in it's last throes? We Answered:

why do people call the republican party the GOP?We Answered:
The Republican Party is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the United States, along with the Democratic Party. It is often referred to as the Grand Old Party or the GOP. Founded in 1854 by anti-slavery expansion activists and modernizers, the Republican Party quickly surpassed the Whig Party as the principal opposition to the Democratic Party. In 1860, it came to power with the election of Abraham Lincoln to the presidency. The party presided over the American Civil War and Reconstruction and was harried by internal factions and scandals toward the end of the 19th century. Today, the party supports a conservative platform (from an American political perspective), with further foundations in supply-side fiscal policies, and social conservatism. The current U.S. President, George W. Bush, is the 19th Republican to hold that office. Republicans currently fill a minority of seats in both the United States Senate and the House of Representatives, hold a minority of state governorships, and control a minority of state legislatures. The party's presumptive nominee for President in the upcoming 2008 election is Senator John McCain of Arizona, and the party's presumptive nominee for Vice-President is Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska. It is currently the second largest party with 55 million registered members, encompassing roughly one-third of the electorate.
HEY venheth
And your point is?
And this has what to do with this election today?
It was a simple and unimportant question and Winpedia was the fastest place to get an quick and simple answer.. If I were doing an indepth research report, I would not stop with one resource. That is why I listed the resouce at the bottom so if interested you can see where my anser came from. Actually I copied more than I really needed to for this question. And I have found Winpedia not to be the best source on information in the past.

Emily Said:
Why does the media keep referring to the Republican party as the GOP?We Answered:
Because parties change over time.Look at the change the dems went through in the 60's with civil rights.
They lost a lot of the south during that time and the party restructured.
Bobby Said:
How is it that the Republican party is sometimes called GOP but no nickname for the Democratic party? We Answered:
We're called educated people with independent minds. :)
