Illinois Republican Primary

Paul Said:

I live in Illinois. I havn't registered as a republican yet. Is it too late to vote in the primaries?

We Answered:

Your state has open primaries, meaning your party affiliation doesn't need to be verified before the election. Essentially, you can just show up with proof of residence at your districts polling place and vote, but you can only choose one side to vote on.

Beverly Said:

How close do you think Obama is watching the Illinois primary today and why?

We Answered:

Place your nose against your computer monitor. That is how close obama will be watching this election.

Alice Said:

Can an independent vote in the 2008 Illinois presidential primary?

We Answered:

Yes you can vote for whichever party you want in the primary election. GOP/DEM/IND some may have more to vote on than others. The only way you would be restricted is if you registered to a party prior to registering to vote. So as long as you didn't do that you can simply declare what party you will vote for and get the ballot for that party. Keep in mind it is in public not private records. No in the general election the ballots are all the same. Best bet is not to register with a party.
