Because of Bloody Kansas (and Nebraska), the Republican party started to form. They weren't happy with the fact that some Missourians were going over to those states and voting for slavery. The Republicans didn't want slavery to grow to other states, but they didn't want to abolish it in the states it was already established in, at first at least.Victor Said:
