I don't think it makes any difference to the argument but that number doesn't fit anything i've ever seen. We can't go around making up numbers there - I've seen Log Cabin Republicans at the state and national conventions and they seem to have a good presence. I know quite a few straight republicans that are members as well. There is no doubt that the GOP is more likely to have the members that claim a religious objection to homosexuality but in general quite a significant percentage of conservatives are not in favor of government interfering in the bedroom or discrimination against someone based on sexual orientation. It clearly isn't as high percentage wise as the DNC membership but not all republicans are operating on a religious agenda.. It just stinks that such a vocal group of them do..

There are gays in both parties, Barney Franks being the most prominent of the Dems, he's been "out" for a long time. Most gays probably feel they have to hide it or not get elected - there are way too many people around who would still consider that disqualifying.

People need to distinguish between someone being gay and being a pedophile. Pedophiles can be gay or straight - and most gays, like most straights, do NOT molest children.
