Brett Said:
How can the Republican Party view itself as the patriotic, troop supporting party? We Answered:
amazing how the Republicans can't see the facts even when they're presented right before their eyes.I really do think at times that they believe support of the troops simply involves putting a "support our troops" sticker on their bumpers and waving a flag.
Yup, that's really gonna bring our soldiers home... waving a flag.

Will third parties gain leverage in future elections with a fractured Republican party? We Answered:
I think there is a fairly good chance. There once was a time whe the democrats and republicans were third parties. Every so often parties shift due to a collapse either in the world, or the party splits veiws so much they change into two or more seperate parties. Some parties even just evaporate. It once was usuallyt the Federalists vs. the whigs. And Teddy Roosevelt was a member of the Bull Moose party.Phillip Said:
Do facts get in the way for the Republican Party and Fox "News"?We Answered:
They have a long record of lies. WMD to invade Iraq, Mission Accomplished, fight them there or fight them here, Death Panels, Government Take-Over of health care, stimulus did not work, on and on.All lies.
Bertha Said:
wat r a LOT of facts about the Democratic Republican party (1800)?We Answered:
I have to disagree with the previous post. The Democrats of today are nothing like the Democratic Republicans of 1800. Do you honestly believe Thomas Jefferson would be happy with the control that the Federal government has over the states today? Jefferson was pro-states' rights. He would not have been in favor of nationalized health care, he would not have allowed illegal aliens to freely enter the country, and he would not have allowed the build-up of the Federal government into the behemoth that exists today. In many respects, he was more like a cross between a Republican (of years ago, not like the ones in office today) and a Libertarian.Terrence Said:
Are there any conservatives who dont view the bible as facts and laws in the Republican party? We Answered:
There are many fiscally conservative, socially moderate people in the Republican party. But many have become Libertarians, like myself.
Or my boyfriend just refers to himself as a Conservative, instead of as a Republican.
If the Republican party returns to its fiscally conservative roots and stops kissing up to the religious right, then I will return to the Repubilcan party.

What are some FACTS about the republican party? We Answered:
They were formed from disaffected Free Soil Whigs, a few Know Nothings (not a joke, it was the nickname of a political party that was anti foreigner, anti Catholic and anti Mason) and a few scattered Northern Democrats. Their first official meeting was in 1854 in Jackson Michigan, though they had met in Ripon Wisconsin before this. Their first Presidential candidate was John Charles Fremont of Missouri, renowned explorer and a skilled troublemaker. He lost to James Buchanan (some say our first Gay President) in 1856. In 1858, incensed by the repeal of the Missouri Compromise four years earlier, Abraham Lincoln of Springfield Illinois ran against the sponsor of the Kansas Nebraska bill, which repealed that Compromise, Stephen A. Douglas of Chicago for the U.S. Senate. Lincoln lost, but the press coverage made Lincoln a national figure for challenging the "Little Giant". After an impressive address at Cooper's Union, New York, a year later, Lincoln became a contender for the presidency in 1860. Nominated by the Republican party in Chicago in the summer of 1860, on a platform that pledged no expansion of slavery into the new territories, Lincoln defeated Douglas, John Breckinridge and John Bell for the presidency. His position, though far less radical than that of William Seward, provoked 11 states south of the Ohio river to secede from the Union. When they refused to return, after South Carolina soldiers forced the surrender of Ft. Sumpter in Charleston harbor, a war was commenced.Though ultimately successful in forcing the southern states to surrender, Lincoln was shot on April 14, 1865 by an alcoholic actor named John Wilkes Booth. Lincoln died the following morning.
The Republican party, later referred to as the Grand Old Party (GOP) continued in the Presidency until the election of Grover Cleveland in 1884. Following the Cleveland presidency 13 more Republicans would be elected our Chief Magistrate.
Since 1861, 19 Republican Presidents
Since 1861, 8 Democratic Presidents. FDR served four terms, something now prohibited by the 22nd amendment. You could possibly claim 9 Democratic Presidents, as Grover Cleveland, while not the only person elected twice to the office, but the only person to be elected once, then another man was elected and served four years, and then Cleveland was elected a second time.
There were a total of 5 other Democratic Presidents between 1828, when the party separated from the old Republican party, as it was called by Thomas Jefferson, known mostly as the Democratic Republican party, and Lincoln's inauguration in 1861.
In our history, a total of 23 Presidents were called Republican, 19 after the present party was formed and four prior to 1828, when the old Republican party became the National Republican (or Whig) party and the Democratic party.Four Whigs served as President.
Politically, the GOP has supported different platforms over the years. In the 1860s, they supported preserving the union, and then a harsh reconstruction of southern states, guaranteeing more rights for former slaves, but their motives are now thought to have been more directed at punishing the whites who seceded from the union. Following the end of Reconstruction in 1877, Republicans made no significant effort to prevent the disenfranchisement southern African Americans experienced.
In the early 1900s, a Progressive wing of the party took control under the leadership of Theodore Roosevelt. This period moved in the direction against monopolies, and in favor of conservation and pure foods and drugs.
In the period following the first world war, the party embraced isolationism, intending to prevent the nation from being drawn into another disastrous war. Prosperity was sweet, but fleeting, as irresponsible speculation in a poorly regulated investment market led to the Great Depression.
Following a 20 year period of Democratic Presidents, Eisenhower oversaw a period of increasing prosperity, and increasing global tensions, resulting in an increase in the military industrial complex he warned against.
Eisenhower's warnings were ignored, as the defense industry grew during the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.
Nixon oversaw the beginnings of our move toward ecological responsibility, with the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency, and the passage of the Clean Air and Clean Water acts, as well as increased restrictions on the use of pesticides. His presidency was affected, as his predecessors had been, with the Vietnam War. He also was the first president to resign, after it became clear that he and his staff had been involved in a coverup of its involvement in a series of breakins.
President Ford served a brief term, and is unfortunately remembered mainly as the man who pardoned Richard Nixon for his involvement in the Watergate scandal
Ronald Reagan was president during the collapse of the Soviet Union.
George H.W. Bush, the incumbent president's father, saw the final collaps
Patricia Said:
How can the Republican party be dead? Facts not emotional rants please? We Answered:
They are not dead.. that is just wishful thinking on the part of the Democrats.. they would like them plus all Independents to be dead.Thing is, the republicans need to revamp a little.. throw out the old dead carcasses that are still in the senate.. and start letting in some new blood.
Now, I don't mean all the old, because even tho the young are ambitious, they do lack experience .. and I don't care what anyone says.. experience still will go a lot further than just blind ambition in the long run. But we need the enthusiasm of the young.. and the knowledge of the older... No the Republicans are not dead.
What is dead is the blind faith in Obama.. and the Dems just can't stand that!
