I think you pretty much get the picture. Although I don't think Rove pushed the amnesty plan to gain Latino support. The people who have most to gain from this is the traditional Republican base, big businesses who profit off of exploiting poorly paid, illegally hired workers.

When Rove left the administration, there is little doubt that he was leaving a lame duck administration to be able to be where he can cause the most damage. He is sleazier than the Watergate bunglers yet slick enough to get away with far dirtier tricks. He is as polished and persuasive an actor as Reagan ever was. You can count on more Swift Boat lies in 2008.
