What is the big deal about immigration? We Answered:
Coming over legally from Mexico (which is what we are talking about here, am I correct?), from which claiming political asylum/refugee status is not likely to apply, is for the already well-off and educated (which you also have to be very well-off, or have some relativos already en el Norte to be possible). Our visa costs are very high. You hear stories about the gas station owner from India having been a doctor back in India. Well, the people coming from Mexico illegally I guarantee you, aren't doctors back in Mexico. To be able to pay the cost of applying for the visa, not too mention know how to get the paperwork needed (most little towns I've been to don't have internet access, though Cibers are starting to take route even in some very rural areas), being able to pay the bus fare to get the to nearest American Embassy or Consulate (knowing where they are...) is not possible without having earned capital (money) in the U.S. or having family already in the U.S. illegally (at least initally) to wire it down.In response to this question, I am going to try not to take "sides" but would like you to think about what you would do in this situation based on family morals alone and a father, mother, daughter, son's innate responsibility to care for their own. Most of our ancestors (unless you are 100% indigenous to the U.S. aka 100% Native American heritage) did the same for us when they came over in steerage class and, if they survived the trip (much like that of crossing the border on foot) and the inspection at Ellis Island, came in through New York as recent as a 100 years ago....The Irish back then were treated much the same as the Mexicans who come to our country are today. And it was probably even worse for them here then than it is for the Mexicans here today, but it was still better than starving in Ireland. Worth every risk, goodbye forever, and moment of suffering.
Yes, we can continue to talk about what "We" are entitled to. And why "We" are so entitled. And why "We" deserve so much better.....but realize that the vast majority of Americans already get better than everyone else in the world and don't even know it.
Legal or illegal, if you were not so "lucky" as to be born north of the border or into a highly educated/wealthy foreign family, what would you do to get your dying mother medicine or get food on the table (literally) for your kids. What would an American do? Well, look and see what our ancestors did for us.
And about the loss of jobs, instead of focusing on scapegoating the poorest and least powerful players in this equation and look at the US transnational companies "our" government services and allows to bring goods into this country even though they are produced under conditions and for pay that do not abide by US law. They are the ones that should be facing the blame more than anyone, but we see them as big and powerful, too big and powerful to tell what to do, but gee, we better stay on their good sides....Lack a backbone much.
And I beg, no one reply that the wages paid in our maquiladoras in pesos is equivalent (and can buy as much down there) to the dollar value..... My husband works in one of out lovely maquiladoras for 100-150 pesos a day (10-12 hour shifts) 5-6 days a week. Just FYI, 100 pesos is about $10 dollars. And besides rent being cheaper, everything else pretty much costs the same, or more, than it does here.
But for now my fellow American citizens, I guess I will have to bow down to your high and mighty sense of entitlement, until we all grow up and learn to be something more.

Why is John McCain solo on the immigration debate? We Answered:
For the same reason he repeats "This war was mismanaged."He's very outspoken, even among Republicans. People aren't going to vote for him because of it. He is digging himself deeper.
Randall Said:
what are democratic and republican views on immigration? We Answered:
Democrats are generally for open immigration and letting anyone in.Republicans are generally for legal immigration, but want to lower/get rid of illegal immigration.
Eddie Said:
Can you look at these video' s on the republicans views on illegal immigration and let me know who has theWe Answered:
"changethingsnow"NO politician, regardless of party, has done anything since the amnesty in 1986. Why are YOU blaming it only on Republicans?? What did Clinton do????? Did he solve anything or even try to? NO!!! BTW, there ARE Democrats in office now, what are they doing about it other than trying to get another blanket amnesty which will solve NOTHING except breed another 30 or 50 million illegal alien criminals in another 20 years??
Catherine Said:
Illegal Immigration and the Iraq war. We know the Democrat and Republican views. What About LIBERTARIAN views? We Answered:
True libertarian view is less government the better...so a free market in the labor market and let people anyone work based on agreement between employer or employee. Anyone, including illegals, can work at anytime because we believe in less government including aspects about paying minimal taxes and most likely even citizenship is actually useless. On the other hand, there should also be no reliance on the government, so we also expect people to pay their own health care and prepare for their own retirement. As for the war, most libertarians view the war as an empowerment of the state, where the government has lied to its people and used fear to strip away civil liberties.
