It's just partisan opinion on his part. I'm sure if it was a bill to build a thousand new nuclear bombs he wouldn't call it wasteful. Republicans (except for the intelligent 3: Snowe, Collins, and Specter) never called their own spending wasteful even when it was.

If there is another debate I would be willing to bet Harry Reid borrows a teleprompter from Obama.

There was at least 2 questions that he did not give an answer to and his response to Sharrons question about how he amassed his wealth was an insult to any thinking person.

When asked about entering congress with very little, Where did you get your wealth.

Reid replied that he was a successful attorney before entering congress.

My next question or response would have been. "If you were a successful attorney, why did you come into congress broke?" Wouldn't a successful attorney have entered politics fairly well off, ala John Edwards.

Reid would have had to saved an AVERAGE of $74,074 every single year starting from when he first started working up until now to have amassed $4 million. When Harry entered the House as a representative his salary was $69,800.

It should be obvious to anyone that the reason that these politicians are willing to spend 10s of millions of $$ for a job that pays less than $200,000 a year is the potential income from all of the kickbacks.

You guys should take note that the reason congress wants to end the tax cuts for those making less than $250,000 (which is an interesting cutoff point) is because the highest paid member in congress (Speaker of the House) makes $223,000 )

God forbid they increase their own taxes, that is if you can get them to pay their taxes.

It is just too hard for me to choose a "2010 Republican Congressional Dream Team" at this point in the game.

Republicans appear to have more potential pick-up opportunities heading into 2010. There are 49 Democratic-controlled congressional districts that McCain won last year (most of them in the South, the very districts represented by those Blue Dogs). By comparison, there are 34 GOP-controlled congressional districts that Obama won (many of them in blue states like California, Illinois, Michigan, and Pennsylvania). What's more, after their big gains in 2006 and 2008 -- in down years for Republicans -- Democrats may very well have hit a ceiling. Translation: Even with the 34 Republican-controlled districts that Obama won, Democrats have nowhere to go but down. But GOPers have this slight problem: Some of their very best incumbents in blue states (Mark Kirk, Jim Gerlach, perhaps Mike Castle) are running for statewide office, which means these seats will probably flip back to the Democrats next year.

The variables are so vast.

Now if Newt Gingrich endorsed a candidate, I would pay attention to that. I greatly respect Newt as a man of great vision and leadership ability.
