Democrats are secretly hoping for a bunch of Tea Party wins because it will leech the votes away. A few enterprising Democrats have helped Tea Party candidates for this very reason.I doubt it will give rise to a 3rd or 4th party victory though.
As far as my preference for the 2012 presidential elections, I can't answer. The only candidate that I know is in the running would be Barack Obama, the current president. I have no idea who the GOP candidate will be, so I can't make an informed choice just yet.
