What I find "interesting" is the claims of the President and Congress overstepping the bounds of the Constitution in everything they have done and do and how the people making these claims support them with quotes form the Declaration of Independence, Founding Fathers intents and other sources that have are not and have nothing to do with the Constitution. They quote everything but the Constitution.
The Founding Fathers so called intent and their Conservative Values were trashed and abandoned along with the Articles of Confederation under which the United States was founded and the "Liberal" Constitution of the United States was adopted in it's stead.
The American People did not like the intent of the Founding Fathers nor the Conservative Values inherent in the Articles of Confederation when they lived under them for eight years and kicked them to the side for change they could believe in!
The "Tea Parties" will not change any of that.
I would really like to think that this whole thing doesn’t represent stupidity, but i haven’t yet seen an argument to support these tea parties that suggests anything else.
It's not a tax problem. if it was, these people have an interesting threshold for how much we can spend before they hit the panic button. the BILLIONS of dollars that was lost in Iraq when we handed out cash directly from the fed didn’t bother them. record spending by bush was ignored. 3 months of spending by Obama (initiated by bush) is too much for them.
It reeks of selective morality. in addition, it has been right-wing candidates in the primaries who tried with all their might to the republican nomination for president by supporting a flat tax or simplified tax code, and they were each rejected by the right wing voters.

This is not justified outrage. Instead, what we are seeing is just sour grapes served up by sore losers with no intention of helping the President and his administration succeed. The worst part is that all of this is being done under the guise of patriotism.
Without a doubt these unfounded tax-day protests fail to resemble anything like the Boston Tea Party. Instead they seem dangerously more like the rebellious outbursts that led up to the American Civil War. And just as it was back then, these people are standing on the wrong side of history.

One way to get a good sense of the current state of the G.O.P., and also to see how little has really changed, is to look at the "tea parties" that have been held in a number of places already, and will be held across the country on Wednesday. These parties — anti-taxation demonstrations that are supposed to evoke the memory of the Boston Tea Party and the American Revolution — have been the subject of considerable mockery, and rightly so."

This is so cute and so fun for you and your nieces!

You can have sandwiches and cut them into fun shapes with cookie cutters! You can do peanut butter and jelly if no one is allergic to peanuts, you can do little cucumber sandwiches, tuna sandwiches, etc.

I also agree with the first poster that you can have goldfish crackers out etc. You can also do cheese and crackers, crudite with carrots and celery with dip, some grapes and other fruits, and then do the sweets and desserts.

You can serve lemonade and iced tea and then do the hot tea in the tea cups and saucers.

For activities, there's lots you can do! There's a game called table topics, there's a bunch of different ones for different themes like teens, families, etc. you can get it amazon.com and other places, I'm not sure how old the girls are, but you can make your own and ask them your own questions and have them go around the table, this way it's something you can learn about each other, and have fun, some questions like:

If you hosted your own tea party, who would you invite?
What would you serve?
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Where do you think you'll live?
What are you going to name your kids?

You can go on with different questions, some fun and silly, others serious, etc. Just have fun with it!

You can also do a craft project with them. You can go to the craft store and get those kits to do sand art and things like that, or you can get something like those wood birdhouses and you and the girls can have fun painting and decorating it together. You can pick up a few different ideas and kits at the craft store, even a blank frame you can each decorate for a picture of your day together.

You can also go to the dollar store and get those tall plastic sundae glasses and get some different flavors of ice cream and some toppings, sprinkles, whipped cream, etc, and have them and you make your own ice cream sundaes.

you could have small cookies that say eat me on them(from another part of the movie) and tag the cups with little drink me signs. Decorations should be colorful and you could get all different looking chairs at the table. Get many small teapots and fill them with candy or other treats as favors. For centerpieces you could make a tall structure that looks like balancing plates(out of styrofoam) and put either a mad hatter's hat or a teapot with the little mouse in it). Another centerpiece could be on of those clear teapots filled with glass beads and have it on top of a column of some sort. Also for food i would suggest simple sandwiches that you would see at a normal tea party! Hope this helped!
