Mad Hatter Tea Party Decorations

Louis Said:

Ideas for a Mad Hatter Bday Party?

We Answered:

I had a mad tea party birthday a few years back. I got a checkered tablecloth and went to thrift stores to get mismatching teacups (which the guests got to take home). For decorations we went to the local party store and looked through the casino-themed section for things with the card suits on them. I also got some plastic flamingos (like the ones you put on your lawn) and organized a croquet came in the backyard. Everyone dressed up and we had a grand time.

For invitations you could have the White Rabbit and something like "Don't be late! For a very important date."

Mad Hatter's Tea Party Ideas?

That sounds like fun! What a creative idea. I'm sure if you do some googling you can find some Alice in Wonderland party decorations. As far as food, I'd stick to standard cake and ice cream. You could do little tea sandwiches with fun fillings, like fluffer nutters, cream cheese and jam, and even bologna and cheese. I mean, they are only 3 years old, I wouldn't get too crazy. Then you can cut them into fun shapes, hearts, stars, etc, with cookie cutters. You can serve "tea" in little plastic tea cups, but I'd make it punch or something that they'd enjoy drinking.

As far as activities, I'd get the Alice in Wonderland movie and maybe make a Pin the Hat on the Mad Hatter poster. You can make funny little hats with construction paper and colored markers and then they could sick it on the Mad Hatter with tape. You can find an image of the Mad Hatter online I'm sure and have it color printed. I'd also maybe do a take on an Easter egg hunt, but maybe with cheap little plastic tea cups and hide them around the house or yard and then they can get a prize. You can also have them make their own hats for the party. Party stores always sell cheap plastic hats and they can decorate them with glitter and markers and glue die cuts or stars and hearts on them.

Gift bags.... hmmm. I'd maybe put some fun dress up toys that you can get at a dollar store - you know like those jewelry and make up packs. Maybe do some little candy packs or something. I mean, they're three, I wouldn't over think it. They're gonna have fun!
