Hunch Punch

16 ounces orange juice (Frozen)
16 ounces pineapple juice
8 cup(s) ginger ale
8 cup(s) sprite
3 gallon(s) Hawaiian fruit punch (original flavor)
1/5 gallon(s) everclear
1/5 gallon(s) vodka

Mix all the ingredients on a 5 gallon spout cooler, serve over ice and enjoy!
The word punch probably makes you think of a fun and fruity drink, usually red in color, which is served up to larger crowds at parties and functions. So, that must be what Hunch Punch is, right?

Well, sort of. Hunch Punch is a punch, but it certainly isn’t for the kiddies. It’s a tasty concoction of juices, alcohol, and usually Kool-Aid that is definitely for an adults-only good time.

Hunch Punch is usually known by the more well known name Jungle Juice, while in some areas you may even hear it called Purple Jesus. Another name variation for Hunch Punch is Blog.

However, it has nothing to do with online journals. The name is used for the drink when it is served to visitors at various science fiction conventions.

Hunch Punch is definitely a favorite found on college campuses across the country. It may take a lot of time and ingredients to make it, but it is definitely worth the time, effort, and money because it not only serves a lot of people, but tastes pretty darned good.

The blend is usually created by mixing massive amounts of alcohol with smaller amounts of fruit juiced and, in some instances, various fruit chunks. While brown alcohols can make the drink rather hard to drink, and beer can make it just plain disgusting, neutral and fruit-based alcohol make it a drink that no one can resist.

Add what you like and invite others to do the same to make your Hunch Punch something that everyone will love.

White Sangria

The best white sangria I have ever had was from a Spanish Tapas restaurant I used to frequent in Las Vegas, where I was a caterer. The head chef at Firefly Tapas bar shared the recipe with me.

First go to the store and buy a liquor called "Alize", in a misty bottle, and get the one that is orangey citrus. This is their secret, and they are famous for their sangria. Get a bottle of chardonnay as well.

Then you come home and dice some fruit, pears and grapes, and maybe some oranges after removing the rind. Add some white wine, the nice chardonnay, and some grapefruit juice, and the Alize you just bought. Let it meld for a day in a big jar.

People will be telling you that you should open your own restaurant.

And you should, because you have an award winning recipe for sangria.

====================

White Sangria
Serves 8

This sangria takes 5 to 10 minutes to assemble in a large pitcher. Take the time to prepare it in the morning so the sangria has several hours to develop its fruity flavor. Pull it out when dinner is done is ready to serve that evening.

3 tablespoons sugar
3 shots Calvados or other apple liquor
1 lime, sliced
1 lemon, sliced
2 ripe peaches, cut into wedges
3 ripe green apples seeded and cut into wedges
1 bottle white Rioja Spanish wine or other dry white wine
1 pint raspberries
Sparkling soda water, for topping off glasses of sangria at table

Combine sugar, Calvados, lime, lemon, peaches and apples in a large pitcher. Cover with 1 bottle of Rioja wine and chill sangria several hours.

To serve, spoon fruits into glasses or goblets, adding a few fresh raspberries in each glass, pour wine over top of the fruit.

Top glasses of sangria off with a splash of soda water and serve.

Does anyone have the recipe for a Wingnut's Boston Tea Party.?

We Answered:

I have one of my own that will probably suffice:
a good shot of citrus vodka (or plain jane cheap stuff)
a good shot of tripple sec
into a tall Collins glass of crushed ice,
topped off with sweet tea.
Shake well and garnish with a citrus peel.
It will kick yer butt and make ye smile!!!

Mint Tea Sandwiches

32 slices ham
1/4 cup loosely packed fresh mint leaves, rinsed, spun dry, finely chopped
1/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1/4 cup cream cheese, room temperature
16 slices best-quality white bread (or whole wheat)
salt

In a small bowl, combine the mint, butter, and cream cheese; spread on one side of each slice of bread. Lay the ham slices onto the buttered side of 8 slices of bread. Sprinkle with salt. Top with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side down.
Gently cut the crusts from each sandwich with a sharp knife. Cut the sandwiches in half diagonally and then cut in half again.

Egg and Cress Tea Sandwiches

6 hard-boiled eggs, peeled
1 cup mayonnaise (best quality or homemade)
salt and pepper, to taste
Tabasco sauce, to taste
2 bunches watercress, washed, stems removed
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh chives
16 slices very fresh bread (use firm white or wholemeal bread, sliced very thin)
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Remove the crusts from the bread.
Chop the eggs, and gently mix in a bowl with the chopped watercress and chives. Add just enough mayonnaise to moisten and bind the mixture the mayonnaise. Season to taste with salt, pepper and Tabasco, and gently mix well.
Spread half of the slices of bread with the egg and watercress mixture, and place the remaining slices of bread on top.
Lightly spread the outside edge of each sandwich with mayonnaise and dip into the chopped parsley.
Cut each sandwich into 4 triangles.
To serve, arrange the sandwiches on a platter, and garnish with the remaining watercress.
