go to a park with a BBQ or take your own portable BBQ and cook sausages for the kids, you just need buns, sauce, sausages and napkins (forget the plates). Kids get hungry and even if it finishes as 12:30 they will be hungry, and nothing worse than complaining kids.

You could also do some beef satay sticks for the adults (mini ones)
instead of mini salad wraps, you could also do Fresh Vietnamese Spring Rolls, a little fancier, don't fall apart, but still well priced, you can do vegetarian, with hard boiled egg and even some beef - make sure to have some dipping sauce.

I wouldn't spend to much on expensive fruit such as berries, everyone loves watermelon, rockmelon and honeydew melon.

The cup cake idea sounds great, but not everyone likes really sugar things, so why not make some healthier small muffins, so there is more choice.

One thing I will point out, is that the nice nibbling platters attract flies, especially in the heat. That us why I suggested the satay sticks and vietnamese rolls, they are kept in the esky until served. The other plates are normally grazed on so will be out in the heat longer, and the flies !

I have seen it work best in fixed locations where kids could come in with their parents and pay an hourly fee to play, but the same facility is rented out in blocks of time for birthday parties, etc. They have costumes, but also play houses, children’s furniture, and inflated equipment to play on. This is a steady overhead and bigger investment, so I would recommend starting your way.

Hats are a great item for these make-believe, dress-up parties and we sell all sorts of hats including novelty hats. But notice the hats on the kids in the site you referred—they are mostly fashion hats trimmed. Party planners are buying these hats constantly for children’s tea parties, birthday parties, etc.

The population of your town seems small to support the business, but your area often has many towns of similar size within 25 miles. I would recommend putting brochures in all these towns with pictures of kids having fun in costumes. It is better that you be part of the party set-up to insure they have fun because disappointment travels fast in small towns.

I had my parents 50th. in their back yard and they had gravel not grass and it was really nice so the driveway will be fine. You won't notice it once you get it all set up. Now if you check Craig's List there are always round table clothes for sale. Brides are selling their stuff after the wedding.Here in Oklahoma I see them all the time. You could even buy then and have them send them to you and you pay shipping.Another idea, a restaurant in your area can rent the 5 you need if you ask the manager..Now back to Craig's List, I always find the pretty runners that go across the table too so there you go.

LOL!!! This is so true. I've never met my dad cos he died before I was born but all I know about him is he's Algerian so I guess that makes me half Arab - my mums half Ghanian half Portuguese. LOL - even though my mum ain't an Arab she did throw a shoe at me before and she does yell at the top of her lungs to call me and my brother to dinner even if were in the next room. And yeah its true I do have at least 30 cousins from my dads side of the family. LMAO!

I would just explain to them that you don't think the tea party theme is a very good idea since all of your friends are colleged aged and wouldn't and don't have tea cups, and you don't want them to feel left out. I would think if they are going to throw you the shower they would step up and pay for the stuff that is needed. Sounds to me like your paying for everything and they are organizing it. I would definitely have a say in whats going to go on with the shower if I were the one paying for everything. Hope everything works out for you, and congratulations on the baby..
