Tea Party Beliefs

Steve Said:

Am I well prepared to visit the local Tea Party rally and defend the beliefs of the founding fathers?

We Answered:

Bravo!

A true Patriot!

Well done!!

Marvin Said:

GOP / Tea Party Agenda and their religious beliefs?

We Answered:

I've often wondered that myself. They probably spin it as "tough love", that by NOT assisting those in need or at an unfair disadvantage, thereby allowing them to maybe succeed on their own, they are actually giving them the greatest gift of all. Sounds like a cop-out to me.

Bertha Said:

Are the Tea Party's beliefs similar to America's founding fathers? If so, how are they similar?

We Answered:

All you have to do is read about the founding fathers to learn that the concept of a singular belief system held by all the founding fathers is the ignorant looking back through rose colored glasses. The "founding fathers" didn't agree on anything!

Adams and Jefferson were good friends but battled it out politically.
Madison and Henry were bitter rivals.
Burr shot Hamilton!

The founders did not speak with one voice. The Federalist disagreed with the Anti-federalists just like modern political parities do today. Tea Party and other conservatives need to start telling us which founders they are referring to when they say they support the ideas of "the founders"

Thelma Said:

Tea party people/other right-wingers will you only except elected official that share your political beliefs?

We Answered:

Naturally I would prefer elected officials who share my political beliefs. That's a no brainer. But I'm not going to disrespect those who don't.

Terrence Said:

Greg Said:

What is the tea party. And what are their beliefs.?

We Answered:

The Tea Party is a movement, not a political party.

They have a fairly narrow set of core beliefs, namely:
1. Gov't should spend less.
2. Gov't should tax less.
3. Gov't should regulate less.

That's about it. All the other stuff you hear are not tea party issues or stances.

Bradley Said:

Democrats and Liberals, which of these core Tea Party beliefs do you take issue with?

We Answered:

I think the term "special interest" is misleading. It always means someone else's interests, but everyone has interest, and hopefully special interest.
I don't believe the gov't must be downsized.
I disagree that bail-out and stimulus plans are illegal.
I don't agree in reducing personal income taxes.
I think gov't is necessarily intrusive.
I think that the idea of traditional family values is a myth.
I am not sure what the last two lines mean.

There ya go. I'm a liberal and those are the ones I disagree with. The others are ok by me.
