Traditional cake for tea party? We Answered:
Traditional? Duh... Victoria Sponge Cake!!!!4 eggs, 8 oz flour, 8 oz Sugar, 8 oz butter (2 oz per egg), pinch of salt, 1/2 tsp baking powder.
Cream the butter and sugar together.
Beat the eggs and stir in slowly, a bit at a time, making sure its all mixed in before adding more. Sift and carefully and gently fold in the flour, salt and baking powder.
Pour into two sandwich tins and bake in a medium oven until golden brown on top.
Turn out and cool on a wire rack.
When cooled, take the slightly thicker cake and flatten the top by cutting the raised top with a knife.
Spread with your favourite jam, although strawberry/raspberry is the most traditional, and whipped cream.
OR Spread with the whipped cream as above but instead of jam cover with halved strawberries (or again your favourite fruit/berry).
Place the other cake, flat side down, on top.
Dust with Icing suger (optional).
Just about the most traditional cake you can get and no worries about nut allergies! And very yummy! Just not very good for you...

Who has a tea cake recipe? We Answered:
I searched for tea cake and this is what I got!http://allrecipes.com/Search/Recipes.asp…
I use that site a lot and actually, it's good. You can always know which recipes are better by looking at the ratings or by reading the reviews.
But you can just serve a chocolate cake or something.
If you need a recipe for chocolate cake, this is a GREAT one, trust me !!! It's absolutely delicious!
1 (18.25 ounce) package devil's food cake mix
1 (5.9 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
1 cup sour cream
1 cup vegetable oil
4 eggs
1/2 cup warm water
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a large bowl, mix together the cake and pudding mixes, sour cream, oil, beaten eggs and water. Stir in the chocolate chips and pour batter into a well greased 12 cup bundt pan.
Bake for 50 to 55 minutes, or until top is springy to the touch and a wooden toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool cake thoroughly in pan at least an hour and a half before inverting onto a plate If desired, dust the cake with powdered sugar.
Serves 12.
