As screwed up as things were then, we are clearly far worse off now... Trillions in debt with nothing to show for it. As I see it, the Tea Party demonstrations are a way to call attention to the things the main stream media simply ignore. Then again, nobody watches CBS, NBC, ABC entertainment "news" anyway!

As I see it, there is a big difference in the two scenarios you mention.
America's young men and women choose to go into the military during a war. With taxes and out of control government spending, we have no choice- we just get the bill.

We can't even protect our children and grandchildren from the horrible impact it will have on them. Just from what has already been spent, an infant born today will owe the gov't $120,000 based on his/her portion of the debt which Obama wants to increase many fold.

This irresponsibility of taxpayers money goes way beyond this generation and whether or not we like it or agree with it - Americans will pay for every $ the government spends. (Unless you are one of Obama's staff, then you get REWARDED by a solid secure high paying job)
When they are taking illegals who don't pay taxes, give them health care and welfare and then citizenship, and make YOU pay the bill
and your children when they come of age, and their children, etc,etc. These are serious repercussions that MUST be addressed.
We don't go into the armed services except by choice- taxes we have no choice -we MUST pay them.

I paid my taxes this year, actually paid less even though I made more, and see little point in doing anything with kiddie pools and store bought tea bags.

Well, from the Tea Party that I witnessed locally only about 1 out of 5 will really vote. And I still laugh at their claims to be "Bi-Partisan" when not one of the people in the local "Tea Party" was willing to admit to being a Democrat and ALL were Caucasian.
