Thier only real concern is lowering their personal tax burden or that of their backers and could care less about anything else.

If they where honest they would demand the end of these wars which cost every American about $10 a month. So the wars indirectly cost a family of 4 $40+ dollars every month or about $500 every year .
That does not seem like much but since it is borrowed money and has not been paid down it adds up to several thousands of dollars in wasted taxes.

I want to harp on the idea that focusing on just the drug marijuana is not getting to the root of why it was made illegal in the first place. The cannabis plant is probably the most useful plant on the planet but is illegal because of one potential use. Something is not right there. Also it is virtually impossible to overdose on the drug itself. The many of the above posters are only parroting what the anti-drug propaganda says.

Marijuana will not likely ever be legalized. The California Proposition 19 will only sorta decriminalize it and the anti-19 attack ads have already started. It seems unlikely that proposition 19 will pass.
