They have been convinced that this federal insurance program is the government taking over the health care industry. Just like they were convinced that Tarp was Bush (blame Obama) taking over the banking industry. Or that the auto bailouts are the government taking over the auto industry. The military occupation and regime changes in South America and the Middle East though - that's liberation. And since they believe the entire government (excluding Republicans of course) is corrupt and in league with Satan, well you get the picture.

And considering that the Tea Party has no clear goals and that they reject reading and science what other options besides prayer is even possible for them? Informed discourse? Pretty unlikely.
