The right wants intrusive and unwarranted government interference in areas where they want to enforce their moralistic agenda. The waste of medical resources further highlights their hypocrisy.

Also, Louisiana is a poor state. It receives much more in federal spending than it contributes in federal taxes and the residents have low median incomes. Discouraging abortions and wasting medical resources puts more of a strain on federal resources to support the results of Louisiana's aggressive intrusions into the private lives of women.

The reason is simple: If someone believes the country is in danger unless specific political views prevail, then they will attempt to push such views on others. Both ends of the political spectrum do this.

Religion is the same way. Some religions have followers spreading the word in order to be following the faith properly.

The problem comes in when there's a lack of respect. I have strong political views, and sometimes I will discuss them with others who disagree and hope they see my side of things. But I'm not disrespectful about it.
