Tea Party Menu
Craig Said:
I'm throwing a tea party luncheon for my neices (hats required:). How can I improve on this menu?We Answered:
I have a recipe for a fruit salsa that you could try that is always a big hit at parties (in place of the fruit salad, of course):Fruit Salsa
½ pkg. strawberries
3 kiwis
2 bananas
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. Lime juice
-Cut tops off strawberries. Cut into small pieces. Mash with fork or chop with chopper (leaving some chunks…will be a salsa consistency). Place into a medium sized bowl and set aside. Peel bananas, slice, chop, and add to bowl. Peel kiwi, slice (save a slice or two for garnish ?), chop, and add to bowl. Add remaining ingredients and stir together. Refrigerate at least 30 minutes prior to serving.
*NOTE*: Best if prepared same day as served…No more than 5 hours prior to serving
Chips:
1 pkg. flour tortillas
Butter or Butter flavored non-stick cooking spray
Cinnamon
Sugar
-cut flour tortillas into desired shapes. Place one layer on a foil lined cookie sheet and heavily coat upper side with melted butter or non-stick spray. Sprinkle heavily with cinnamon-sugar mixture. Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Sprinkle more cinnamon-sugar while hot.
When my grandmother would have tea parties with me, she always made muffins...blueberry and lemon poppyseed. They just seemed to fit!!
I don't know if the chocolate strawberries would be good, since you are talking about having a fruit salad (or hopefully fruit salsa ;) ) as well.
To go with the sandwiches, add a light side, like pasta salad or veggies and dip.
Hope I helped! good luck!

What kinds of foods are good to serve for a 'tea party'?We Answered:
It depends on how many people are coming. And what ever you have you want it to be 1-2 bites.
Deviled eggs would be good.
Shrimp cocktail
Meatballs
small eggs rolls or egg rolls cut in 1/2
You are on the right track, also chips and salsa or another dip would be good too.

TEA PARTY MENU?? I need help!?We Answered:
Thinly slice cucumbers, mix sour cream and dill and spread on a piece of bread. Layer with cucumbers and top with another slice of bread. Remove crust and cut into triangles.Same sandwich idea but use deli sliced ham and dijon mustard. Make enough sandwiches for all and serve on platters
Chocolate scones
2/3 cup (160 ml) heavy whipping cream
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon (4 grams) pure vanilla extract
1 3/4 cups (245 grams) all purpose flour
1/4 cup (25 grams) Dutch-processed unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup (100 grams) granulated white sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup (75 grams) cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
1/3 cup (50 grams) semisweet chocolate chunks or chips
1/3 cup (50 grams) white chocolate chunks or chips
For Tops of Scones:
1 large egg
1 tablespoon heavy cream
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and place rack in center of oven. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a small bowl whisk together the whipping cream, egg, and vanilla extract. Set aside.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder and salt. Using a pastry blender or two knives, cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the chocolate chunks (chips). Add the cream mixture and stir just until the dough comes together (add more cream and/or flour as necessary).
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead a few times. Shape the dough into an 8 inch (20 cm) circle. With a 2 1/2 inch (7.5 cm) heart shaped cookie cutter, cut into scones. Gather any scraps together, knead, and then cut out more scones. Brush excess flour from the bottom of the scones, and place them on the baking sheet. Make an egg wash of one well-beaten egg mixed with 1 tablespoon milk and brush the tops of the scones with this mixture.
Bake for about 15 minutes or until they are firm around the edges but a bit soft in the center. A toothpick inserted into the center of a scone will come out clean. Cool on a wire rack. Can serve with clotted cream or softly whipped cream

How do you go about throwing an upbeat tea party? We Answered:
sounds like a good party, but NOT like any tea party that I have ever been to.Brandon Said:
Where to seat Tea Party guests? Can they be seated at the dining room table? We Answered:
You need to consider your service; if it is not of commanding stature, I would never consider serving a tea at table. The note of formality at such seating requires an impressive service set; more modest service sets are best employed in the casual atmosphere of the parlor.
