reputable sources on the tea party movement? We Answered:
Here's some research and polling data that may be useful:=============================
Excerpts from the Christian Science Monitor article / Gallop poll / CBS poll on Tea Party & Republican followers:
“In general, the concerns of people who describe themselves as tea party followers are not much different from those who identify themselves as Republicans, notes Gallup.
Sixty-three percent say they get the majority of their political and current events news on television from the Fox News Channel, compared to 23 percent of Americans overall.
Twenty percent of Americans overall, one in five believes the president was not born in the United States.
Asked to volunteer what they don't like about Mr. Obama, the top answer was that they just don't like him.
Thirty percent of Tea Party supporters believe Mr. Obama was born in another country, despite ample evidence to the contrary. Another 29 percent say they don't know.
Eighty-eight percent disapprove of President Obama, compared to 40 percent of Americans overall.
Fifty-two percent believe too much has been made of the problems facing black people.
This survey found that only 35 percent of tea party adherents rated African-Americans as “hard-working.” Among whites who disapprove of the tea party, the comparable figure was 55 percent.
Some 45 percent of tea partiers judged African-Americans “intelligent,” according to the University of Washington poll. By comparison, 59 percent of anti-tea party whites viewed African-Americans as intelligent.” -

Secrets of the Tea Party: The Troubling History of Tea Party Leader Dick Armey
http://www.truthout.org/secrets-tea-part…
[Excerpts]
"As the Tea Party movement has gained momentum during the last 12 months, it seems few Tea Partiers have caught on to the troubling past of the man at the center of their movement: FreedomWorks chairman, former House Majority Leader and recently-retired lobbyist extraordinaire, Dick Armey.
"As chairman of FreedomWorks, the group credited with mobilizing the Tea Party movement, Armey is the movement's de facto leader. Yet Armey's years spent lobbying for a group recognized by the State Department as being a terrorist organization--should give Tea Partiers pause."
. . .
"Only one month before that populist moment on Capitol Hill, Armey was employed as a lobbyist by leading international "consulting firm" DLA Piper. In that capacity, from 2005 to 2009, Armey promoted the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran, otherwise known as Mujahedeen-e-Khalq (MEK), which the State Department has branded a terrorist group. Armey lobbied his former colleagues on behalf of legislation that would have provided taxpayer support to the MEK."

Aaron Said:
Why does tea party movement re-emerge under this administration? We Answered:
Grass roots is the answer. Flat out grass roots. I noticed them in 2009, it was regular folks, some housewives that were forbidden to toss bags of tea into a river. So they carried them around. They even offered to put tarps on the ground and sprinkle their protest on the tarp so as not to get the tea in the soil, and they were forbidden. so they carried their signs anyway. This was long before Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck. These two simply saw the opportunity of the grass roots springing up all over. They appear to have brought an actual cohesion to a grass roots movement. I would wager once some real money came in, that they have paid professionals with organizational skills.
BTW, Nancy Pelosi called the grass roots movement "astro turf". She also called the tea party "Nazis".

When my great grandkids take AP US History in the future, how will the Tea Party Movement be portrayed? We Answered:
Having not taken AP US History, I don't know what all it covers. But I think the Tea Party will be in the category that includes hippies, yippies and other groups like that. Politically unimportant (in the scheme of things) but still having an affect on society.Timothy Said:
Do Liberals hate the Tea Party because it's whiter, richer and more educated than any movement in history? We Answered:
lol, I don't know about "whiter" and "richer", I'm a TEA Partier, and I'm Italian American (dark skin) that makes less than 20k/year.But I agree, TEA Partiers ARE more educated and more intelligent. :)
