Tea Party Room Decor

Carrie Said:

I need some ideas on decor for a baby's room with a "tea party" theme?

We Answered:

I found a site that may help you out....the decor is super cute! Good luck!

Jennie Said:

Where can I get decor and accessories to go with this? And what about..ideas please!!!?

We Answered:

the bedding itself could be fairly neutral as far as pattern/design... i might be inclined to use something that had an 'antique' sort of style, maybe with a small amount of ruffles/lace. plain white sheets would be perfectly fine. as far as colors, i would go with a victorian palette, myself... with a rosey pink and a dark sagey green and snow-white. for a little more variety i might add a few touches of sky blue and berry red.

as far as types of fabric, i would want nice durable cotton. or maybe blends. i would steer clear of anything that's dry-clean only... etc. this is still a child's room (it will get messy and easy-clean-up is nice!). and you can get the effect i think you're going for with a few well-made blends (like poly-cotton).

you could add a few little things like a miniature table and chairs set (for tea-parties) and maybe a plastic tea-set she could actually play with (there are some very pretty plastic sets out there!). and maybe a 'vase' with giant flowers in it. a few old-looking lady's hats could hang above a few coat pegs (and could even be used for dress-up tea time).

i'll let ya know if i think of anything else!

Becky Said:

Need french country decor and accents for daughters room, where can I get???

We Answered:

French country is a great choice for your situation. It is one of my favorite for little girls. Think of bunnies and playful Toile in pink or green. You could also use dotted or lace edged sheets and pillowcases. Or, even something with bees would be appropriate. I wouldn't worry about your Berber. It is neutral.

If you use Toile, use it in abundance. Include the window treatments and lamp shades. You could mix in checks also.

Anything in pinks or greens would be lovely. You can use in a combination, pink and brown or pink and green. Blues also play off nicely with the cherry and highlight the elegance. So, you can even use blue and yellow which would be psychologically calming and invigorating. I wouldn't overdue the yellow though. It could be too stimulating. That is just my opinion. The cherry would go with any flooring. It could even be a golden shade if you wanted.

Here is a site for "Ideas", the prices are very expensive but worth the look for you to pull from to do a search at department stores.

Here are some other sites for ideas:

Look at the selections from JC Penney, Target, Macy's or if you have a larger budget, Bloomingdales. You cannot choose your wall color until you choose your linens. You may even check Marshall's, Linen's and Things and Bed Bath and Beyond.

Good luck.

Ricardo Said:

Okay, we're probably going to change the date to a Sunday, is this a good budget?

We Answered:

There are several areas you could cut back on expenses.
1) The wedding party gifts. You should be able to cut that in half if you get creative.
2) Wine. Like the other poster said, just serve enough for toasts. Can the rest be byob?
3) Cake knife set. Surely you can find some cheaper. Check out Target, Hobby Lobby or another party store.
4) Flower girl/ring bearer. Surely you can find some cheaper. Check out Target, Hobby Lobby or another party store.
5)Honeymoon. (We took a 7 day cruise and spent $1500, maybe $2000 after paying the on-board alcohol bill.)
6) Wishing tree. Is this really necessary? Just leave cuts of paper on the dinner table.

Are you having any music? DJ? Band? iPod?

This is just my humble opinion. Do what you want. I'm just suggesting areas where I can see you can save money.
