They weren't a success. It was just the brainwashed and rabid Fox News watchers who took their marching orders and showed up at the appointed location.

I went to a tea party in central Illinois today. There were about 150 people. The news later reported that there were 3000 people. What? The "party" was held in the plaza in front of the county courthouse. This was about the size of a large school lecture room so could hold about 300, not 3000.

All of the teabaggers were white, most were over 40, and all seemed to be working class. The guy on the megaphone asked how many work for a living and only half of the people raised their hands.

After singing God Bless America, saying the Pledge to the Flag, and a prayer, it degenerated to them chanting USA, USA! Most of the signs were anti Obama and anti taxes. I saw one sign that said, Honk, if I am paying your mortgage.

Yah - it just proves further that the American people are completely rejecting the thinly-veiled racist agenda put forward by the extreme right nutjobs who have taken over the Republican party since the 1980s.

The Repugs have nothing left to offer other than their deceptive tactics to favor the extremely wealthy that have brought our contry to the brink of financial ruin.

If you think about it, those people were out protesting policies that actually give them a tax break (unless they make more than $200k a year -- which I doubt many of those folks protesting do).

So, in effect, the "tea parties" were nothing more than the extremely stupid protesting tax hikes on the extremely wealthy.
