Not only that but when Palin and the Tea Party showed up in his little hometown of Searchlight Nevada a whole lot of Nevadans took that as a slap in the face. When the GOP/Tea Party has to go to a mans front lawn and publicly degrade him thats a bit too far. To far for the people of Searchlight, too far for the people of Nevada and too far for the people of this country. Most Nevadan voters were turned off by that for sure.
He didn't have to be popular with everyone, just Nevadans. I predicted he would win all along no matter who he ran against. Harry is a son of Nevada. Born, raised and very well known. Especially since all the baby boomers (40 - 60) are so familiar with him and Nevada is a huge retirement location. Since his childhood days in Searchlight, through the profesional boxing years, then the business man and Senator forever. Most Nevadan voters were turned off by that for sure.
The only reason it was as close as it was, was because of all the new non Nevadan born residents ( more than a million in Vegas alone) who don't know him personally as the rest of the state.

Answer: Since the Democrats will lose control ( even as more Dems resign every day ) whether by Tea Party or Independents, it won't matter. The country will return to some "sanity" again.
