Daisy Said:

Anyone else think if the "Tea Party" gets certified in 5 states it will be the end of the Republican Party?

We Answered:

Probably not the end. We've had the same two parties dominating the scene through 150 years and a whole lot of changes - remember, the first Republicans to actually win high office were the 'crazy left' of their era. However high voter dissatisfaction, these two parties aren't likely to disappear.

One possibility is that it will simply die out, if it gets no significant financial support. The other is that it will divide Republicans, elect some people, and mostly throw a lot of races to the Democrats by dividing the right wing vote. In the longer term, this could renew the Republican party by drawing off the crazies and leading to a return of reasonably sane and responsible conservatives.

Yes

Samantha Said:

Why do tea party advocates want to take away states rights to regulate insurance companies?

We Answered:

The Tea Party, like the Republican Party, is beholding to Big Insurance. The Kaiser Health article below explains the difference between what the Tea Party advocates and what the Democrats advocate. The Tea Party plan would be like buying your health insurance from a used car salesman. The Democrats advocate that insurance companies have uniform requirements that will ultimately protect the insured.
