Tea Party Stores

Roland Said:

What is the fastest way to disperse a tea party mob?

We Answered:

Hypnotize Bimbo Palin and have her make a speech without thinly veiled hate and racism in it. Her appeal would quickly fade and disappointed TeaBaggers would drag their signs home to their trailers.

Annie Said:

Do the pubs know that the Boston Tea Party was not about raising taxes?

We Answered:

So typical...take a tiny portion of the truth and run with it.

The Boston tea party was about two main issues initially:

1. Taxation without representation
and
2. Government intervention into capitalism.

The government passed the Tea Act of 1773. This gave the East India Tea Company the ability to sell it's product at a preferential, tax free rate. Why? Government said that the company was "too important to allow to go bankrupt."

Meanwhile, back in Boston, those pesky American small businesses had to pay higher taxes which meant that they couldn't compete. The government who owned significant stock in the East India Tea Company gave them the ability to undersell American merchants and monopolize the colonial tea trade.

THAT is what started the problem.....government intervention into capitalism and high taxes without representation.

The people didn't like this at all.....so the government (King George III) implemented the Coercive Acts of 1774.

They:
1. Closed the ports in Massachusetts
2. Drastically reduced the powers of self government in the colony
3. Permitted royal officers to be tried in other colonies or in England when accused of crimes
4. Provided for the quartering of troops in the colonists' barns and empty houses.

In other words, they closed businesses that were not doing what they were told by the government.

They stopped local and State government from ruling themselves.

Gave sweeping pardons to friends of the government who got in trouble.

And used their authority to take people's homes and businesses.

Now can you see the parallels?

Cheap set of tea cups and saucers?

We Answered:

I have found very good sets at goodwill, ARC or similar stores. The stock changes, so it takes several trips. Sometimes you can very good single or whole matching sets. You have to be there when it is put on the shelves, so it is worth looking several times.
You can also see what is on e-bay. There may be some cheaper sets there. You have a better Selection than trying to shop at target stores.

What is a quick way to disperse a tea party crowd?

We Answered:

Tell the party that there will be a set time to leave. You could have a loud sound of some sort. When the party hears this sound, they leave.
