those are America's "conservatives" protesting president Obama and his administration. The gist of it all is that Obama believes in using tax revenues to put the economy back on track and sponsor programs such as universal health care, for example. They were out on the streets in droves on April 15th (the deadline for filing income taxes in the U.S.) to show their disapproval of Obama's plans. The irony of it all is that they have failed to realize that Bush spent just as many (if not more) tax dollars on the Iraq war than Obama will likely be spending on health care and the infrastructure in general. None of these people who protested at "tea parties" on April 15th said a word about the spending on the Iraq war. Additionally, some of the protest is simply geared towards Obama because he is black- there were a lot of people holding protest signs with slogans suggesting that Obama wasn't American, and/or that an African should never be president of the U.S. You can interpret these statements however you wish, but I personally believe they contained quite a bit of racial animosity.

The Tea Party is libertarian grass roots movement(or maybe I should say "was originally.") It primarily stands for small government. No social programs etc. Most of their beliefs are very fiscal in nature with a limited social standing. In-fact, the tea party basically believes that the government should have no social agenda.

They are very anti-tax, pro-business, anti-war.

But, it has been "hijacked" recently by people with conservative social agendas, evidenced by a wing's strong support of Palin.
