The Tea Party is a broad umbrella that includes alot of different views. The common strain is a disillusionment with the current government and a desire to put limits on it.

Tea Party supporters include;

libertarians

Rand Paul is a libertarian, reminiscent of old school conservatives. He often refers to 'new' type conservatives as 'neo-cons' implying that their intrusive foreign policy and nation building policies are not truly 'conservative'.
