You already bought the bridal party their dresses, so don't go overboard--go and buy them something simple and inexpensive like that mani/pedi kit.

I personally wouldn't skimp on hair and make-up. This is a day to indulge yourself with something like that and it'll look great.

See if you can cut the rehearsal dinner bill. Do something really simple and relaxed--dinner/bbq at your house or pizza. I have a friend who went bowling instead.

Check out dollar stores and on-line for the rest of the stuff you need--you can get a deal...ebay is great for wedding stuff.

Well, I think this is more about being there for your husband, with his family, not about being there for his sister. What she did was immature and rude, but doing the same back to her does not solve anything. You should go, but if anyone says anything about it, make it clear that you are being there for your husband. At some point, this will likely have to be resolved, but it's always better to take the high road and be the bigger person.

Not tacky at all. If people understood you wanted a small wedding and they wanted to go of their own accord then they will understand an be happy to celebrate in your marriage celebration. Just make sure they understand they have to pay for themselves. All you have to tell them is that you two wanted to celebrate your marriage by going out to eat and if anyone else wanted to celebrate with you they would just have to pay for their own plate. They'll understand especially if you asking for no gifts.

I hate it when people dis's theme weddings, If she wants to do a theme its her day and probably lot more creative and fun than a boring traditional wedding!
on another other note, I think this would be a fun and creative wedding to plan,
-have little orderves with tooth picks with a sign saying eat me
-a topsy turvey cake would be neat but in a budget I am not sure, other wise use lots of colors on the cake. or even better yet do cupcakes!
-buy cheap top hats and put flowers or anything in them for decoration
-do a cardboard image of the mad hatter characters scene with the heads cut out and have guests pose in them, that would be allot of fun when the night gets going!
-use eBay and amazon, and orientaltrading.com for things!
-make your invites with help pf your friend/family or fiance.
The list is endless!

Theme weddings are way more fun to plan because you can get so creative and save lots of money!

How about a little bud vase with a ribbon around it and a flower inside in her colors? They could double as decorations, and you could also add a little box of assorted teas (Tazo has a purpley-red one called "Passion" that would be perfect!)
