The Constitution Party

Johnny Said:

What are the differences between the Constitution Party and the Libertarian Party?

We Answered:

One very big difference is that the Libertarians support all of the Constitutional limits on government power, whereas the Constitution Party people only support the right to keep and bear arms--they want to end separation of church and state, ban abortion, favor censorship rather than freedom of speech and the press, want to end protections of due process for those accused of crimes, etc. etc. etc.

Despite all this, the Constitution Party folks love to talk about "limited government"--generally meaning, limited from doing anything good. So, their rhetoric tends to overlap with the Libertarians, though they use it more as Newspeak rather than an accurate description of what they believe in.

Darrell Said:

Has anyone ever heard of the Constitution Party?

We Answered:

The Constitution Party is by far the best alternative to both
the Democrats and Republicans.
The CP should be recognized but the media only favors
Establishment parties.

Nathan Said:

What are the flaws of the Constitution Party and the Perks?

We Answered:

Freedom of conscience and actions right after denying women the right to choose. The family structure is too narrowly defined and I'm pretty sure you won't get the atheist vote with the divine stuff. The Constitution as interpreted recognizes eminent domain so there's a conflict with your property demands. The constitution Article 1 Section 8 gives a deliberate leeway for Congress to make laws to benefit the common good not foreseen by them. This lessens the State's Rights and illustrates that the founders intended the lawmakers in the future to make laws through the implied powers of that clause. As to American Sovereignty maybe the protectionist party would be a better name. I am sure you don't agree, but you did ask

Neil Said:

How do the Constitution party and the Libertarian Party differ?

We Answered:

The two are pretty much opposites.

The libertarians are all about freedom - personal liberty and economic liberty. They believe in minimal government and the right for people to do whatever they choose as long as they do not harm others. (including legalizing drug use, prostitution, and other 'victimless crimes'.) They take a very liberal (in the classical sense) interperetation of the constitution.

The constitution party believes in a hardcore fundementalist Christian theocracy. They believe in a revisionist history which makes the founding fathers fundementalist Christians (most were Deists, and fundementalism didn't start until the early 20th century), and believe that US law should be based on their interperetation of the bible - and they 'interperet' the constitution through that perspective. They are very authoritarian.

Stephen Said:

How about a new Constitution Party?

We Answered:

Yes, I think we have a good system of government that has been corrupted by the people in it. Every election I hear people talking about voting for the lesser of two evils, how about coming up with someone who is good so we don't face that choice. I think personally we should vote out every incumbent in both parties over the next two elections, so that the new people understand that they serve us not vice versa. These politicians view themselves not as our servants but as the aristocracy of our society.
