I will continue to remain independent of the Tea Party. Why? Because, although I support what you guys are advocating, seeing Palin and other neoconservatives speaking at conventions does not turn me on. I'll stick to my own beliefs and speak for myself.

No, it's not a coincidence. It's the outrageous which appeals to the fringe voters that are their base. Notice how many of them mellowed their message to appeal to a broader base once they won their Republican primaries. And I thought they were running as "consistent values" candidates;-)

You'll notice that the 14th Amendment isn't restricted to American-born slaves. That's because it also made citizens of the children of the large populations of Irish and German immigrants who were already in the US in 1868. It made citizens of just about all of the children of the tens of millions of European immigrants who came during the early 1900's ....including both sides of my family.... and probably includes most of YA's Americans' families.

The 14th Amendment, like voter fraud, is just another "problem" that isn't a problem. As difficult as it is to cross the border, especially now that the CA coastal section of it is closed and only the desert section stretching from CA to TX is open in places, pregnant women are not crossing. They might be flying in from Denmark or Brazil but they aren't walking through that desert while pregnant. There are all kinds of people monitoring who's coming across and pregnant women aren't part of the demographic.

Because of the actions of some minority groups (blacks, mexicans, whatever), I feel that a lot of Americans have become frustrated with the way they have behaved and don't look too kindly towards them, whether they admit it or not, and that has spawned a certain amount of racism towards them. But I'm not sure exactly what kind of nation we have become.
