What Is The Boston Tea Party

Constance Said:

What is the british and the american point of view on the boston tea party?

We Answered:

The americans felt proud because they believed that they were being overtaxed by the king of england. The act of disobedience was applauded by the other colonies and as i remember (i may be wrong) there were a few more... anyway, shortly after this created more Acts to limit the colonies powers and rights, so obviously Britain was not very happy, because they were still in debt from the Seven Years War (aka French-Indian war) and they depended on the colonies as a financial resource, and they had thrown over much moneys worth of tea off the ships

Scott Said:

What was the conflict of the boston tea party important!?

We Answered:

It was indeed about taxes and had nothing to do with slaves.

More specific: in 1773 the British told the British East India Company that it could send tea to the American colony without paying the taxes. All other tea traders still had to pay a special tea tax to the Crown. The Americans refused to buy any tea and refused to unload the tea from the British ships in the American ports.

About 50 men from the Sons of Liberty, a patriot group, dressed as Mohawk Indians. They boarded 3 tea ships in the Boston Harbor on a cold December morning. These men then threw 342 chests tea valued at $75,000 into the water. One of these men was Paul Revere.

Many people say the Boston Tea Party was the most important event that led to the start of the war between the colonies and the British.

Added note: I see that the answer about slaves has been deleted?

Valerie Said:

How many people know why the Boston Tea Party took place and why Christopher Columbus sailed to the Americas?

We Answered:

"How many people know those things"? I'd guess quite a few.

Jorge Said:

What are some names of people that attended the Boston Tea Party 1773?

We Answered:

I know that a Nathaniel Greene participated (whether it was the famous general I don't know), also a Benjamin Burton, John Locke, Joseph Payson, and a Obadaih Curtis rings a bell. I'm sorry if thats not enough, but this is all I can remember as far as names go. I read two books on it a while back and that's all I can muster from the reading. Good Luck
